Representing diverse interests and providing insight for new direction in the development of the Nebraska All-Hazards Mental Health Response and Recovery Plan, a steering committee serves as a central coordinating point for statewide activities and projects. The state planning process serves as a model for regional planning activities, currently underway in each of the six behavioral health regions in Nebraska.

Using focus groups of mental health professionals, existing curricula was adapted (with permission) to train non-licensed mental health professionals in performing appropriate tasks during an emergency or disaster. As a result of this training, mental health professionals are free to focus on individuals in greatest need of specialized attention.
