  • Introduction to Disasters and Disaster Chaplaincy
    • When a disaster happens, it effects everyone. Responses are varied but almost everyone feels confused and lost. Cognitive responses take a back seat to emotion and survival skills. These are normal responses to an abnormal situation. Skills will be introduced that are helpful during a time of disaster. Applications for credentialing as a Disaster Chaplain with the Nebraska Ecumenical Disaster Response Network will be available for those interested in pursuing this ministry.
  • Welcoming Returning Military Personnel
    • When service personnel return home, they and their families will want and expect to see the same person before they went away. The reality is that most service personnel have experienced some form of distress which has changed their perspective on life. Each person will adjust to being home in a different way, and each person will find his or her own new "normal". Pastors can be instrumental in helping to make this transition. During this session we will explore ways to help as these service personnel make the journey home from a place of stress.
