The Steering Committee consists of a diverse group of stakeholders interested in the development of the Nebraska All Hazards Mental Health Response and Recovery Plan that includes defined roles for professionals and natural helpers in the disaster mental health response. Urban, rural and frontier interests are being incorporated in planning and development of curricula.

The Steering Committee is a working group with the following goals:

  • Identify policy barriers and opportunities for all hazard disaster mental health response from the perspective of those they represent
  • Suggest direction for state disaster mental health planning activities
  • Review products resulting from grant activities
  • Serve as connectors for the constituents of the group they represent and state disaster preparedness activities
The steering committee is composed of stakeholders with an interest in the development of capacity in Nebraska to address behavioral health needs that emerge following a disaster or terrorist event. This group meets at least twice annually.
